'A funny thing happened on the way to the new Orpheus forum'

The Orpheus Club forum is now up and running at the address below. The forum is separate from the website and bebo, which are public spaces online. The forum is private and may contain sensitive information regarding the club especially during rehearsal periods i.e. schedules and contact details for production team members. It will therefore probably be used mostly at these times but please feel free to keep it busy in the interim as a social place to gather and organise social activities, discuss productions etc. We now had 23 forum users and the list keeps growing. So sign up and don't miss out on the fun!

Each application for username will need to be approved in advance of posting or reading the topics on the forum. Membership to the forum is only available to fully paid club members, 'friends of the orpheus' or members of the production team.

Rehearsal - 'And the name is Facade....'

Well done to all cast and crew for a great week and another Orpheus success!

The Orpheus Club is the longest established amateur musical society in Great Britain, and probably the world, to have performed an annual stage production, WITHOUT A SINGLE BREAK, since The Club was founded in the south side of the City of Glasgow, Scotland, on 3rd October 1892. The club performs major musical productions to the highest artistic standards, employing professional stage directors, musical directors, choreographers, make-up artists, wardrobe assistants, and musicians.

The Orpheus Club has undoubtedly made its name in the presentation of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas; its very first production was TRIAL BY JURY in April 1893, and The Orpheus Club's reputation has been achieved and maintained through the exceptional artistic tradition which it has acquired in its authentic interpretation of the Savoy Operas.

The Orpheus Club is an amateur society, and anyone over the age of 16 years is very welcome to audition for membership - please contact The Secretary to audition; the current membership subscription is 40 pounds per year per member, and 20 pounds per year per member for students and unemployed. Members of The Orpheus Club are expected to sell as many tickets as possible for all the shows and concerts in which they appear.
